Sweet Country Roads
May 20 - May 25

Day One - Sunday:  Meeting day in Hershey.

The "sweetest place on earth" is a fitting place to start the Sweet Country Roads tour.  Our host hotel is the fabulous
Hotel Hershey.  If you arrive early, you may want to be a kid again and visit the fun filled Hershey Park.  You maybe
you'll  decide to take the Great American Chocolate Tour in Chocolate World and see how coco beans become
Hershey Kisses.  If you just can's wait to get on the bike, we'll have an un-supported cue sheet ride so you can
stretch you're legs.  We'll all get together for dinner tonight so everyone has chance to meet.

Day Two - Monday:  Hershey to Ephrata

Todays route takes us from Hershey to Ephrata on roads as sweet as the town we're leaving.  You'll start to see why
so many of our clients have told us that the riding in Pennsylvania is as good as any in the country.  We have more
miles of rural back roads than any other state, and we have picked out the best routes with low traffic and plenty of
scenery.  Ephrata is the location of one of the earliest religious communities in America.  See how this unique sect
lived and worked on a tour through the preserved
Ephrata Cloister.  Our overnight is the Hampton Inn.  Just down
the street is a fantastic old time ice cream parlor.  It's my favorite post ride stop.

Day 3 - Tuesday:  Ephrata to Amish View

Leaving Ephrata, the route soon enters the heart of the eastern Pennsylvania Amish community.  You will marvel at
the neat as a pin farms, colorful flower gardens, and the amazing work ethic of the Amish people.  Buggies will
become a common sight, as will farmers working their fields using the old ways of horse or mule power to pull their
farm implements.  This area is a veritable network of inter-connected back roads.  We take full advantage of that as
we ride past farms, through quaint, red, covered bridges, and across ridges that offer wonderful views of the quiet
valleys below.  Our destination is the
Amish View Inn and Suites, our home for the next two nights.

Day 4 - Wednesday: Lay over day

Short Bartville  Loop:  29 Miles / 2000 Feet of climbing.
Extended Bartville Loop:  39 Miles / 2800 Feet of Climbing.
Oxford Loop: 50 Miles / 3600 Feet of Climbing.
Oxford Loop with Extension to Maryland:  64 Miles / 4150 feet of climbing.

Whether you join us on one of our optional  loop rides or go your own way, today is a great day to explore. There’s
so much to see and do in the area. Strasburg is famous for trains. Visit the
National Toy Train Museum, or see the
real thing at the
Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. Pedal back to Intercourse for some sight seeing, shopping and
museums. Spend half a day figuring out where you’ll eat lunch and the other half trying to ride it off.  This is your
chance to spend a leisurely  day on your own if that's what you want.

The riding today is one of our personal favorite routes.  Choose from several distances from 25 - 60 miles.   The
route takes you so deep into the Amish farm country that at one point telephone poles simple stop, there is no need
for electricity.  On the way, snack at the Bartville Store, where the local Amish farmers frequently stop.  . Gaze over
valleys carved by meandering streams and look down on a slate roofed covered bridge at
Jackons Mill. The kids are
barefoot, the smiles are genuine and you’ll pass more buggies than cars. Whatever route you choose today, we bet
you have a blast.

Day 5 - Thursday: Ride from Amish View to Lititz

Today we start to wend our way back toward the start.  We'll meander along more sugar sweet roads on our way to
the town of
Lititz.  You'll have a great ride, followed by a relaxing afternoon at the General Sutter Inn.  You might
want to quench your thirst in their pub with one of the 14 varieties of beer.  Or take some time to explore the shops
and attractions on the small streets of this pleasant village.

Day 6 - Friday: Ride from Lititz to Hershey

The ride back to your car will give you time to remember everything you've seen and to add more memories.
